Prewired Wiring Harness for the Fender Telecaster

This prewired wiring harness is built for the standard Fender Telecaster — one volume control, one tone control, and a 3-way pickup selector switch — fully assembled and tested on our workbench before it ships. Every harness ships with a wiring diagram and installation instructions, and arrives prewired on an assembly board with sleeve adapters included so it drops straight into a standard Telecaster control cavity.

This Telecaster harness is wired 50s-style, meaning the tone cap is wired between the tone and volume pots.  This helps eliminate treble bleed when the volume is turned down and maintains the correct taper of both controls.  Built with vintage-inspired 50s-style wiring and correct-value components throughout, it delivers smoother control feel, improved reliability, and clearer pickup response the moment it's installed. If you've been searching for a Telecaster wiring harness or a prewired harness for your Fender, Player, or American Standard Telecaster, this is that harness.

Choose Your Tone Cap

Paper-in-Oil (PIO) or Orange Drop

Both are proven vintage-style .047uF tone capacitors, available on the same prewired harness.

Paper-in-oil (PIO) caps are the premium choice — prized for a warmer, more gradual roll-off as you turn down the tone knob, the true 50s vintage character Telecaster players chase.

Orange Drop caps are the modern standard — a clean, consistent roll-off at a more affordable price. Wire either one into your Telecaster the same way; only the capacitor changes.

  • Switchcraft 1/4-inch output jack
  • Vintage-style Gavitt cloth push-back wire

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between PIO and Orange Drop tone caps?
Both are 0.047uF and wired the same way. Paper-in-oil (PIO) is the premium option, rolling off more gradually for a warmer, vintage-correct character. Orange Drop is the modern-vintage standard with a clean, consistent roll-off.

Does this include the pickup selector switch?
Yes — an Oak Grigsby 3-way blade switch is prewired into every harness (switch tip not included).

What guitars does this fit?
The standard Fender Telecaster control layout: 1 volume, 1 tone, 3-way switch, 2 pickups — including Player and American Standard Telecasters. If your Telecaster has 3 pickups (Nashville), a reversed control layout, or 4 controls (Deluxe), see the links above for the harness built for your model.

Can I get 500K pots instead of 250K?
Yes — just note it in your order comments at checkout, and we'll build your harness with 500K pots instead.

How long does it take to ship?
Each harness is custom-built to order, with a 5–10 business-day lead time before it ships. Shipping to U.S. addresses is free.

What's your return policy?
Every harness is backed by an easy 30-day return policy — if anything isn't right, we want to make it right.

Workbench Note:

On a Telecaster, the harness mounts to the control plate (or pickguard, depending on your model) and drops into the body cavity as one unit. It's a straightforward install but still worth doing carefully. Test-fit the harness against your control plate before final assembly, keep the ground wire connections clean and secure, and lay a soft cloth over the body edge while you work to protect the finish.
