Custom Kits
Not every guitar fits neatly into our standard lineup, and that's fine — custom work is a normal part of what we do here. If you're after a fully custom prewired harness, a DIY kit built around your own parts, or just a specific set of components pulled together for your build, send us the details and we'll take a look. We've built custom harnesses for hundreds of one-off guitars over the years, on top of the more than 20,000 standard kits we've shipped, so unusual control layouts and odd wiring requests are familiar ground.
Two ways we can help
1. Modify one of our existing kits
If one of our current kits is close to what you're after, we can often adjust it instead of building from scratch — for example, converting a 3-control Stratocaster kit down to 2 controls. Email us the kit you're looking at along with exactly what you'd like changed, as specifically as you can, and we'll review it and get back to you.
2. Build a harness from scratch, to your exact specs
If nothing we carry is a good starting point, we can build a harness to match your guitar from the ground up. To quote it accurately, we'll need a few photos and some measurements first.
Photos we need:
- A front-on shot showing the control layout
- A shot of the open component cavity, front or back, whichever your guitar has
Details we need:
- How many volume and tone controls
- Whether you need a pickup switch (if you have more than one pickup), and its type
- How many pickups, and what type (humbucker, single-coil, P90, etc.)
- Cavity style: back-routed, hollow body, or pickguard-mounted
Measurements we need (center to center, as exact as you can get them):
- Volume to volume control
- Tone to tone control
- Volume to tone control
- Switch to neck volume control
- Switch to output jack, or to the edge of the guitar if the jack sits on the end
- Switch to tone control
- Switch to volume control
- Depth of the wiring cavity, especially at the switch location
What happens after you send it in
Once we have that information, we'll look it over, confirm whether we can build it, and send you a quote.
