Prewired Wiring Harness for the Gibson & Epiphone ES-295

This prewired wiring harness is built for the Gibson and Epiphone ES-295 archtop — two volume controls, two tone controls, and a 3-way pickup selector switch — fully assembled and tested on our workbench before it ships. Every harness ships with a wiring diagram and installation instructions, and arrives prewired on a drilled assembly board sized to your ES-295's control cavity.

Built with 50s wiring for the classic behavior players want from this control layout: rolling back the volume knob keeps more high end intact instead of dulling your tone, while the tone control stays smooth and responsive across its full range. If you've been searching for an ES-295 wiring harness or a prewired harness for your Gibson or Epiphone archtop, this is that harness.

Choose Your Tone Caps

Orange Drop or Paper-in-Oil (PIO)

Both are proven vintage-style tone capacitors, available on the same 50s-wired harness. Orange drop caps (.022uF bridge, .022uF neck) give a clean, consistent roll-off — the modern-vintage standard. Paper-in-oil (PIO) caps (.033uF bridge, .015uF neck) are prized for a warmer, more gradual roll-off as you turn down the tone knob. Wire either one the same way into your ES-295.

What's Included

  • Four 500K potentiometers (coarse-spline, short shaft)
  • Tone capacitors — your choice: Orange Drop (.022uF bridge / .022uF neck) or Paper-in-Oil / PIO (.033uF bridge / .015uF neck)
  • 3-way toggle switch, prewired with a black tip
  • 1/4-inch output jack
  • Vintage-style braided push-back wire
  • Fully assembled onto a drilled harness board and tested before it ships
  • Wiring diagram and installation instructions included

Specifications & Fitment

  • Fits the Gibson ES-295 and Epiphone ES-295 — with wire runs built long enough to reach the extended switch location used on Gibson and Epiphone ES-295 archtops
  • Knobs require an 18-tooth coarse-spline fit (replacement knobs sold separately)
  • Each pot mounts through a 3/8-inch control-cavity hole

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between orange drop and PIO tone caps?
Orange drop (.022uF bridge and neck) is the modern-vintage standard with a clean roll-off; paper-in-oil (PIO, .033uF bridge / .015uF neck) rolls off more gradually for a warmer, vintage-correct character.

Does this include the pickup selector switch?
Yes — a 3-way toggle switch, prewired with a black tip, is built into every harness.

What knobs fit this harness?
Pots use an 18-tooth coarse-spline shaft, so you'll need coarse-spline knobs to match — we sell replacement knobs if you need them.

Does this fit the ES-175 too?
Yes — the wire runs on this harness are built to reach the extended switch location used on Gibson and Epiphone ES-295 archtops, so it also fits the ES-175. For search purposes, we have a separate listing for the ES-175, but the harnesses are identical. See the ES-175 Prewired Wiring Harness Here

How long does it take to ship?
Each harness is custom-built to order with a 5–10 business day lead time before it ships. Shipping to U.S. addresses is free.

Workbench Note:

On a hollow-body like the ES-295, the wiring harness is pre-built outside the body and fed through the f-hole into the control cavity — this harness is pre-spaced for exactly that install. Work one component through at a time in order — closest to the f-hole first, jack last — and keep the wires taut but not stretched so nothing tangles inside the cavity. A soft cloth laid over the f-hole edge and top of the guitar protects the finish while you work, and a loop of fishing line or string tied through the harness gives you something to grab if you need to reposition it.
